THE BASICS
Chloe Rhine hit a three-run home run, but No. 3 seed Loyola Chicago defeated No. 2 seed Saint Louis 8-4 Thursday afternoon in an A-10 Championship second-round game at Fordham's Bahoshy Field.

SLU (29-21) falls to the loser's bracket of the six-team double-elimination tournament. The Billikens will face No. 5 seed Massachusetts in an elimination game Friday at 1:30 p.m. Central.

Loyola Chicago (29-22) will play No. 1 seed Dayton (31-19) in a winner's bracket game Friday at 11 a.m. Central.

HOW IT HAPPENED
•Loyola Chicago struck for four runs in the top of the third inning and expanded its lead to 6-0 with two tallies in the fourth.
•Saint Louis got on the board in the bottom of the fourth.
Jane Kaniecki drew a leadoff walk and went to third on
Cami Newbanks' one-out double. Pinch-runner
Sydney Ross scored on a two-out wild pitch.
•The Ramblers plated two unearned runs in the sixth for an 8-1 lead.
•In the Billikens' sixth, Kaniecki led off with a triple, Newbanks walked with one out, and Rhine followed with her fifth home run of the season to make it an 8-4 game.
