DALLAS – The sixth-ranked Saint Louis Billikens dropped a 1-0 decision at SMU Thursday night in nonconference men's soccer action at Washburne Stadium.
Â
The Bills dip to 1-1 on the season, while SMU improves to 2-0-1. The Mustangs are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll after being ranked No. 10 in the preseason.
Â
SMU's Jaylinn Mitchell provided the game's only goal early in the second half, when he pounced on a rebound for the game-winner in the 48th minute.
Â
While the Mustangs had the advantage in shots 13-3, the Billikens applied much of the pressure in the second half to the tune of six corners to just one for SMU. However, they were unable to get on past SMU keeper Chance Johnson, who made two saves for the shutout.
Â
Saint Louis is back in action on Labor Day (Monday, Sept. 2) when IU Indianapolis comes to Hermann Stadium for a 7 p.m. kick. The Jaguars are 2-0 on the season entering their game tomorrow against Bowling Green.
