Lara’s Late Strike Salvages Draw vs. IU Indy

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis and IU Indianapolis played to a 1-1 draw Monday night in nonconference men's soccer action at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens move to 1-1-1 overall, while IU Indy is now 2-1-1.

Both goals were scored in the second half. The Jaguars opened the scoring in the 62nd minute on a restart. Noah Kummrow ended up serving the ball into the box for Tyson Aschliman, who met it at the middle of the six and sent one into the left-side netting for the game's first goal.

As the second half progressed, the Billikens mounted several dangerous opportunities for the equalizer and it finally came through in the 83rd minute. Seth Anderson and Luis Lara combined on a give-and-go header, freeing Lara who struck one from the right side across the box and into the back of the net for the 1-1 final.

Saint Louis had the edge in total shots (19-7) and corner kicks (11-3).

SLU returns to action on Sunday when it faces SIUE at CITYPARK with the Bronze Boot on the line. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
