Billikens, Explorers Play to Scoreless Draw

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Louis and La Salle played to a scoreless draw Saturday night in the Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer opener for both teams.
 
The Billikens move to 2-2-3 overall and 0-0-1 in A-10 play, while La Salle is now 1-4-3 and 0-0-1 in the league.
 
Saint Louis managed a 16-7 advantage in shots and held a 14-3 edge in corner kicks.
 
Jeremi Abonnel made three saves for the shutout in goal for the Bills. La Salle goalie Randy Burkhardt stopped four SLU chances.
 
SLU played a man down for the final eight minutes as SLU defender Max Floriani was shown a second yellow card. SLU leading scorer Luis Lara fired a team-high five shots for the Billikens.
 
SLU is back home at Hermann Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 28, when it hosts Loyola Chicago at 7:30 p.m. during SLU's Homecoming and Family Weekend. The traditional fireworks display will take place at halftime of the match.
