ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis baseball head coach
Darin Hendrickson announced seven additions to the Billikens' 2025 roster.
Â
These student-athletes are part of a 21-player recruiting class for the upcoming season. The Billikens have begun fall workouts in preparation for three fall games beginning Sept. 13.
Â
The new Billikens are:
Â
Kobe Allen – Sr. – RHP – St. Louis, Mo. (Westminster College)
Â
Allen transfers to the Billikens after three seasons at Westminster College, where he appeared in 21 games. Last season, he went 3-0 for the Blue Jays. Allen played high school ball at Pattonville High School in St. Louis. Â
Â
Hendrickson on Allen: "Kobe has a talented arm that will add a big-time fastball and some swing-and-miss stuff to our staff. He has developed over the past couple years on the mound and we are excited to add his arsenal to our staff."Â
Â
Richie Cimpric – Sr. – RHP – Bayport, N.Y. (Seton Hall)
Â
Cimpric spent the past two seasons at Seton Hall after beginning his college eligibility at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla. He did not appear in a game last year for the Pirates, but in 2023 Cimpric appeared in 16 games and posted a 3.68 ERA.
Â
Hendrickson on Cimpric: "Richie is an established Division I arm who brings a skillset that fits in great with our staff and our ballpark. He is a strike thrower coming off a great summer and will have a chance to contribute immediately."
Â
Carter Kelsey – RS Jr. – RHP – Westport, Conn. (Seton Hall)
Â
Kelsey transfers to SLU from Seton Hall, where he appeared in seven games in his Pirates career. As a redshirt freshman in 2023, Kelsey posted a 2-0 record in three appearances. He appeared in four games last year.
Â
Hendrickson on Kelsey: "Carter brings a physicality to our pitching staff that we are very excited about. He has multiple pitches that can generate swing and miss, starting with a fastball that can get up into the mid 90s. We are excited to add him to the pitching staff."
Â
Amaan Khan – Fr. – RHP – Chicago, Ill. (Lane Tech HS)
Â
Khan is an incoming freshman from the Chicago area, prepping at Lane Tech High School. As a 16-year-old, he joined Team Pakistan in the qualifying rounds of the 2022 World Baseball Classic as both of his grandparents grew up in Pakistan.
Â
Hendrickson on Khan: "Amaan brings a wealth of experience for a high school recruit having pitched for Team Pakistan in the World Baseball Classic, as well as the MLB Draft League this past summer. He has a very high ceiling and we expect him to add to a freshmen class we feel very good about."
Â
Max McGwire – Jr. – 1B – Irvine, Calif. (San Diego/Oklahoma)
Â
McGwire transfers to SLU after spending the last two seasons at San Diego. He began his collegiate career at Oklahoma in 2022 when the Sooners reached the NCAA National Championship game. He is the son of 12-time MLB All-Star Mark McGwire, who played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1997-2001.
Â
Hendrickson on McGwire: "Max is coming off a great summer where he got a lot of experience and showed his ability to hit and hit for power. He can play corner infield and corner outfield and will provide added firepower to the middle of our lineup right away."
Â
Preston Salazar – Jr. – RHP – St. Louis, Mo. (Lindenwood/St. Louis CC)
Â
Salazar comes to SLU after two seasons at Lindenwood. Prior to his stint as a Lion, he pitched at St. Louis Community College after his prep career at Kirkwood High School. Last season, he made 17 appearances (three starts) and went 2-2 with a 4.57 ERA.
Â
Hendrickson on Salazar: "Preston is a local product who brings a proven ability to pitch in a variety of different roles at a high level. His experience, having pitched well over 100 collegiate innings, should add stability and depth to our staff."
Â
Kamaehu Sanchez – Jr. – C – Nanakuli, Hawaii (Johnson /Graceland)
Â
Sanchez comes to SLU after spending last season at Johnson University in Tennessee. He hit three homers and drove in 15 runs for the Royals. Prior to his time at Johnson, he was an All-Conference catcher at Graceland University, hitting .398 with four homers and 32 RBIs in 2023.
Â
Hendrickson on Sanchez: "Kamaehu comes highly recommended and experienced in college baseball. He will be able to provide depth to the catching position both offensively and defensively and will help handle the pitching staff on a daily basis."
Â
The Billikens won the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season title in 2024 and advanced to the championship round of the A-10 Tournament in 2023. SLU is 70-39 over the last two seasons.
