WHAT'S ON TAP?

  • Saint Louis heads to the nation's capital to take on the George Washington Revolutionaries on Saturday afternoon. Tipoff at the Smith Center in Washington, D.C., is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT / 2 p.m. ET.
  • The Billikens return to Chaifetz Arena next week for two games. They face VCU on Tuesday, Jan. 28, then host Dayton on Friday, Jan. 31.

FOLLOWING THE ACTION

  • Saturday's game will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+. Byron Kerr (play-by-play) and Jimmy Patsos (analyst) will call the action.
  • KMOX 1120 AM is the home for Billiken Basketball on the radio. Billiken Hall of Famers and longtime SLU men's basketball radio partners Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will the call the action for all SLU games, both at home and on the road. Ramsey is in his 39th season calling SLU games, while Austin is in year No. 34. 

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

  • Saint Louis enters the weekend as one of three teams in the Atlantic 10 Conference with one loss. George Mason is atop the conference standings with a 6-1 record, while VCU and Saint Louis follow with 5-1 marks.
  • The Billikens have won two in a row, including a 64-52 win at home against La Salle on Wednesday night.
  • SLU has held its last two opponents to below 60 points. The Billikens lead the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense in A-10 games only, yielding just 62.8 ppg.
  • Robbie Avila is coming off back-to-back 20-point outings, scoring 24 points at Richmond and 21 against La Salle. His 18.4 ppg leads the team and ranks fourth in the A-10. Avila's 4.3 assists and 1.9 3-pointers made per game lead all centers in NCAA Division I.
  • Gibson Jimerson is fifth in the A-10 in scoring with 17.5 ppg. The school-record-holder in career points and career 3-pointers is second in the league this season in 3s made per game (3.11).
  • Isaiah Swope is sixth in the A-10 in scoring (17.1 ppg) and fourth in the league in assists (5.1 apg).
  • With the scoring trio of Avila, Jimerson and Swope, the Billikens are the only program in the country with three players averaging 17.1 ppg or more.
  • Kalu Anya is coming off a double-double against La Salle and leads the A-10 in rebounds per game (9.6).
  • Saint Louis leads the A-10 in FG% (.478), eFG% (.563) and 3s made per game (9.5). 
  • The Billikens are 9-1 at Chaifetz Arena this season.
  • Head coach Josh Schertz is in his first season at SLU. His .782 winning percentage ranks No. 7 among active coaches across all three NCAA divisions.

ABOUT THE REVOLUTIONARIES

  • The George Washington University Revolutionaries (Washington, D.C.) enter Saturday's matchup 13-6 overall and 2-4 in Atlantic 10 Conference play.
  • GW is looking to snap a three-game losing skid. One of those losses was a double-overtime thriller at George Mason on Jan. 18. 
  • The Revs are 9-1 on their home floor, including an impressive 20-point win against Dayton on Jan. 4.
  • Three players score in double figures for George Washington. Forward Darren Buchanan Jr., an A-10 All-Rookie Team selection a year ago, scores 14. 1 ppg to go along with 7.1 rpg.
  • Guard Gerald Drumgoole Jr. adds 13.1 ppg and has knocked in a team-best 43 3-pointers.
  • Forward Rafael Castro scores 11.9 ppg and pulls down a team-high 8.9 rpg. His 3.63 offensive rebounds per game and seven double-doubles lead the A-10. Castro leads the team in field-goal percentage (.675, 83-123) and blocked shots (30) as well.
  • Guard Christian Jones leads the team in steals (32), while guard Jacoi Hutchinson (47 assists) leads four Revs who have recorded 40 or more assists.
  • George Washington is third in the Atlantic 10 in scoring offense, averaging 76.7 ppg. 
  • Defensively, the Revolutionaries lead the league and are 18th in NCAA Division I with 9.6 steals per game. They are second in the A-10 and in the top 30 nationally in 3-point percentage defense as opponents shoot just 29.5 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Head coach Chris Caputo is in his third season at GW. He came to the Revs after serving as University of Miami's associate head coach under Jim Larrañaga since 2015.  

SERIES HISTORY

  • Saint Louis leads the all-time series against George Washington 14-9.
  • The Billikens have won seven straight in the series, including last season's 96-91 victory at Chaifetz Arena. Gibson Jimerson led six Billikens in double figures with 19 points. Kellen Thames scored 11 points in that game for the Bills. 
  • The Billikens are 3-6 in games played at the Smith Center, though they have won their last two played in Foggy Bottom. In the last game played here two years ago, Javonte Perkins scored a team-high 27 points and joined the Bills' 1,000 point club in the process.
