WASHINGTON – Saint Louis sophomore goalkeeper Abby Schalow was named the Atlantic 10 Conference field hockey Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
It is the second time this season that Schalow has earned A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
In Friday's game at Richmond, Schalow came up big with five saves as the Billikens earned their first win ever against the Spiders. One of those saves came on a penalty stroke with SLU trailing 1-0, setting the stage for the Billikens' come-from-behind win.
For the season, Schalow has a 1.78 goals against average and has made 63 total saves. Her .808 save percentage is tied for eighth in NCAA Division I.
Schalow and the Billikens are back in action on Sunday when they head to Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in a noon start. The game will be streamed on B1G+.
