ST. LOUIS – Top-seed Saint Louis defeated No. 4 Davidson 1-0 Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Championship.
The Billikens (10-2-6) advance to face three-seed Dayton on Sunday at Hermann Stadium in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Final. Game time is noon.
Saint Louis got on the board with a PK in the 29th minute. Andrew Heckenlaible was fouled in the box to give SLU the opportunity from the spot. Quinten Blairburied the chance, putting the Bills ahead 1-0. It was Blair's second goal of the season.
The SLU defense was sharp the entire match. Davidson had just six shots on the night, including one on goal that SLU keeper Jeremi Abonnel stopped for his 10th shutout of the season.
The SLU-Dayton match at Hermann Stadium on Sunday is a rematch of last year's A-10 final, which was won by Dayton. The Billikens and Flyers met at Hermann Stadium earlier this season, a game that ended in a 0-0 draw.
