Jermel Thomas Signs with Billikens

ST. LOUIS – Point guard Jermel Thomas (Bronx, N.Y.) has signed an athletics scholarship agreement to attend Saint Louis University and play basketball for the Billikens, head coach Josh Schertz announced today. Thomas will begin his four years of eligibility in the 2026-27 season.

"Jermel was someone we identified early and really went after," Schertz said. "He fits the profile we have recruited to – really good positional size combined with vision, passing and speed. Jermel can really shoot it off the spot and off the bounce, and he has great defensive tangibles and versatility. On top of that, Jermel is the kind of person we love to coach. He is a high-energy young man who is a great teammate and really wants to be coached."

Thomas attends Our Saviour Lutheran School in the Bronx, N.Y., and plays for Jelly Fam in the Overtime Elite developmental league. Last season he averaged 13.9 points and 5.0 assists. Thomas also played for the Riverside Hawks on the AAU circuit.

247Sports.com rated Thomas as a four-star recruit and the 13th-ranked point guard in the class. ESPN also ranks him as a four-star and No. 21 among point guards.

Known as "Magic Mel," Thomas has gone viral on social media for a variety of basketball-related videos.
