Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Billikens Top La Salle, Advance to A-10 Semis

ST. LOUIS – No. 24 and top-seed Saint Louis defeated No. 8 La Salle 2-0 Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Soccer Championship at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens (9-2-6) will have a home game in the semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. at Hermann Stadium. The opponent will be determined following the quarterfinal round tomorrow night. La Salle ends its season with a 4-5-8 record.

The Billikens broke a scoreless tie on a goal by Theo Franca in the 75th minute. Carlos Leatherman started the scoring play with nifty work just outside the box. He whipped the ball into the area and Franca turned and fired it into the back of the net to make it 1-0 Billikens. It was Franca's team-leading fourth goal of the year and his third game-winning tally.

In the 85th minute, Tanner Anderson made it 2-0 on a corner kick. Jack DiMaria sent the ball in. Anderson deflected it at the near post, and the ball snuck over the goal line for a key Billiken insurance marker. It was his second goal in as many games.

SLU out-shot the Explorers 21-10 and had a 10-6 edge in corner kicks.

Billiken keeper Jeremi Abonnel made four saves for his ninth shutout of the season.
