  • Saint Louis plays its second game of a three-game homestand on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Northern Iowa at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is set for 4 p.m.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

  • The Billikens are 0-2 on the season, falling 70-66 in the season opener at Missouri State and 73-55 against Middle Tennessee at Chaifetz Arena the last time out.
  • Three Billikens average double figures in scoring. Zya Nugent's 18.5 ppg leads the way. Alexia Nelson and Zhykera Brown follow with 12.0 and 11.0 ppg, respectively.
  • Alyssa Koerkenmeier is the Billikens' top rebounder with 10.5 rpg, second in the A-10. 
  • Koerkenmeier leads the A-10 and ranks 11th in NCAA Division I with 4.0 blocks per game. 
  • Koerkenmeier is one of six players in NCAA Division I (and the only freshman) averaging at least 4.0 blocks and 10.0 rebounds in the early going.
  • All four freshmen and all three transfers have seen action for the Billikens this year.
  • Head coach Rebecca Tillett is in her fourth season at Saint Louis and eighth overall. In 2022-23, she guided the Billikens to their first Atlantic 10 Tournament title and NCAA Tournament appearance. The next season, SLU won the WNIT. Tillett previously led Longwood to the Big South championship in 2021-22. Tillett owns a 54-56 record at SLU and a 105-124 career mark.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

  • Northern Iowa comes to Chaifetz Arena with an 0-1 record after falling in its season opener to North Dakota State, 63-49.
  • Six Panthers made their UNI debut in the opener, including Jenna Twedt who led the squad with 14 points.
  • Northern Iowa was 17-17 overall and 11-9 in the Missouri Valley Conference a season ago.
  • Last season, senior Ryley Goebel became the only player in school and MVC history to record 70+ blocks and 70+ steals in a single season.
  • The Panthers are led by longtime head coach Tanya Warren. The three-time MVC Coach of the Year is the UNI and MVC all-time winningest coach. The Panthers have appeared in postseason play in 14 of the last 15 full seasons, including back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths in 2010 and 2011. 

SERIES HISTORY

  • Northern Iowa leads the all-time series 7-2. The Billikens defeated the Panthers 68-64 at Chaifetz Arena in 2023-24 on the way to the WNIT crown.
