Another Relay Breaks School Record at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Another school record fell at the Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame on Saturday as the men's 4x400-meter relay set a new school standard.

The Billikens' 4x400-meter relay team of Carson Amstutz, Ethan Bryant, Chase Pitre and Sam Lamaze finished in 3:16.37 to break the school record. The previous mark of 3:17.45 was set back in 2017.

SLU completed the Meyo Invitational with three school records, as both the men's and women's DMR set school records yesterday.

"Just like last night, the relays lead the way for us," SLU head coach Jon Bell said. "It was exciting to watch our men's 4x400-meter relay set a new school record. We had some nice PRs come from our middle distance and long sprint groups, so I'm excited to see that progress.

"I was also happy to see Libby Williams set a new PR in the weight throw," Bell said. "We've had some nice performances from the field event athletes the last few weeks, which is a good sign leading into the latter half of the season."

Williams posted a PR in the weight throw, hitting 13.8 meters. In the 800 meters, SLU had three women post PRs in Starr Scott (2:15.57), Sonja Morin (2:15.74) and Riley Franz (2:16.25).

Emery Mayfield posted a PR in the 3,000 meters, finishing in 9:59.36. Emily Morden PR'd in the mile with a time of 4:55.57. Becky Phillips and Patricia O'Neill registered seasonal-best times in the 400 meters of 57.87 and 57.95, respectively.

The Billikens are back in action next weekend at the Missouri Invitational in Columbia, Mo.
