ST. LOUIS – The Billikens defeated Butler, 12-2, in an eight-inning, run-rule victory.
Saint Louis took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on a Max McGwire RBI single.
Butler responded with two runs in the fourth, but that would be the extent of its offense.
SLU regained the lead with back-to-back RBIs from Ian Blazier and Ethan Sitzman, making it 3-2.
The Billikens continued to dominate, scoring seven runs in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 10-2.
Sitzman added another RBI in the sixth, pushing the score to 11-2. Blazier completed the scoring with an RBI single in the eighth, ending the game at 12-2.
Blazier drove in four runs, while Sitzman, Brenden Stressler, and McGwire each had two RBIs.
Ian Halverson reached base five times and scored three runs.
The Billiken pitching staff allowed just one hit and recorded seven strikeouts.
Saint Louis will return to action this weekend, hosting St. Bonaventure for a three-game series. Friday's game is set for 6 p.m. Central.
