WASHINGTON – Saint Louis University freshman
Scout Gallagher is the Atlantic 10 Conference softball Rookie of the Week for March 24-30, the league office announced Monday. It is Gallagher's second such honor this season.
Gallagher helped SLU to a 3-1 record, including a 2-1 A-10 series win at Saint Joseph's, last week. She batted .400 (6-for-15), and four of her six hits were for extra bases (three home runs, one double), giving her a team-high 1.067 slugging percentage. Gallagher also tallied team highs of seven RBIs, five runs and 16 total bases, and she struck out just twice in 15 plate appearances.
Gallagher began the week by recording the first 3-hit game of her collegiate career in a victory over SIUE. The performance included a home run and three RBIs. She homered twice and drove in four runs to help the Billikens win game two at Saint Joseph's.
For the season, Gallagher ranks second on the team in slugging percentage (.529), home runs (six), RBIs (23), batting average with runners in scoring position (.355), multiple-RBI games (seven) and two-out RBIs (12).
Saint Louis plays a midweek game at SIUE Wednesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. The Billikens host A-10 leader George Washington in a three-game series April 5-6, with Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game slated for a noon first pitch.
