THE BASICS
Saint Louis split a pair of games on day one of Purdue's Boilermaker Classic Saturday, defeating the host team 8-5 and falling to Bradley 5-4.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•
Chloe Rhine's bases-loaded walk in the top of the first inning gave the Billikens an early lead.
•Purdue tied the score in its half of the first and grabbed a 5-1 lead with a four-run third.
•Saint Louis erupted for six runs and seven hits in the fifth.
Karsen Jany led off with her first home run as a Billiken.
Abby Mallo's RBI single made it 5-3, and the Bills pulled even on
Jane Kaniecki's two-run double. With two outs, an RBI single by
Kendall Johnson and
Abby Ulsas' bases-loaded walk put SLU in front 7-5.
•The Billikens added an insurance run in the seventh on
Natalie Sullivan's RBI fielder's choice.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•
Isabel Royle went the distance and recorded her third win in the circle. Royle allowed just one earned run and six hits and registered a team season-high nine strikeouts. She retired 10 of the last 12 batters she faced and allowed no hits over the final 3 1/3 innings.
•Every Billiken starter had at least one hit, with Jany adding a single for a two-hit outing.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•After Bradley plated two runs in the top of the first inning, Saint Louis cut the margin in half on Mallo's seventh home run of the season in the bottom half.
•The Billikens took a 3-2 lead in the second on RBI singles by Sullivan and
Anna Christ.
•A three-run fifth put Bradley in front for good, 5-3.
•
Scout Gallagher swatted her third homer of the year in the seventh.

•Kaniecki, Rhine and Jany had a single apiece.
•Gallagher pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
