ST. LOUIS – The Billikens scored in four innings and shut out Western Illinois, 6-0, Tuesday evening at Billiken Sports Center.
Saint Louis came out strong, sending eight of nine batters to the plate in the first inning. The Billikens scored two runs off RBI singles from Riley Iffrig and Max McGwire.
Hayden Moore scored in the fourth inning to give SLU a 3-0 lead.
Ethan Sitzman drove in one run in the sixth and two in the eighth to set the final score at 6-0.
Karl Ralamb earned the win, pitching five innings. The SLU pitching staff allowed six hits, struck out seven, and secured the shutout.
The Billiken defense forced the Leathernecks to go three-up, three-down in four innings.
Moore, Ian Blazier, and Iffrig each had multiple hits, and the Saint Louis batting order struck out just once in the game.
The Billikens return to action with a weekend series at George Mason, aiming to win another Atlantic 10 series.
