ST. LOUIS – Members of the Saint Louis University swimming and diving teams participated in the 10th annual Swim Across America-St. Louis Open Water Swim fundraiser for cancer research at Innsbrook Resort's Alpine Lake Aug. 23.
Swim Across America-St. Louis is an open-water swim race that has raised nearly $2 million for its beneficiary, Siteman Cancer Center. Each year the event hosts nearly 600 swimmers as well as volunteers, spectators, supporters, and special guests such as medal-winning Olympians to "Make Waves to Fight Cancer."
The Billikens fared very well in their fundraising effort, finishing with $5,214 for local cancer research endeavors. In all, Swim Across America-St. Louis 2025 surpassed $295,000.
"Our student-athletes have always embraced opportunities to act on one of Billiken Athletics' strategic objectives, building community," assistant coach
Austin Mayer said. "Raising money for cancer research is among the worthiest of causes, and our team members were proud to be a part of this event and represent Saint Louis University."
