Saint Louis leads 10-2-2 |
Saint Louis resumes Atlantic 10 Conference play Saturday when it welcomes the La Salle Explorers to Hermann Stadium. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
The traditional Homecoming & Family Weekend fireworks display will take place at halftime of the match.
The Billikens, ranked No. 8 in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll, is coming off a 3-0 loss at Akron on Tuesday. La Salle is 1-2-5 overall and 0-0-1 in league play. The Explorers tied Saint Joseph's in their A-10 opener.
Here are five additional facts in advance of Saturday's match vs. La Salle:
1 // SLU was ranked this week in the top-10 for a second straight week, checking in at No. 8 in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Bills are also ranked in this week's College Soccer News (10th) and Top Drawer Soccer (21st) national polls.
2 // Theo Franca was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week after scoring the game-winning tally in the Bills' 1-0 win on Saturday at Duquesne. (read more)
3 //Â SLU goalkeeper Jeremi Abonnel has played every minute in goal. He has 18 career shutouts and ranks tied for ninth among active keepers in Division I in career clean sheets. Abonnel, the reigning A-10 Goalkeeper of the Year, is also in the top 20 in the NCAA in save percentage.
4 //Â The Billikens' six goals this season have come from five different goal scorers. Freshman Theo Franca is the lone Billiken to score multiple times (SIUE and Duquesne). Andrew Heckenlaible (SMU), Grady Easton (Seton Hall), Xavi O'Neil (SIUE) and Nick Schramm (Missouri State) have also scored for the Billikens.
5 //Â SLU leads the all-time series 10-2-2. Interestingly, this is just the fourth time La Salle has come to St. Louis since the series began in 2005 when SLU joined the A-10. The Bills are unbeaten in their last nine against La Salle. Last year, the two teams played to a scoreless draw in Philadelphia.
