ST. LOUIS – Led by first-year head coach
Ryan McCoy, the Saint Louis University swimming and diving teams open the 2025-26 season Saturday, Sept. 27, against Washington University at Simon Recreation Center. The meet begins at noon with the diving competition.
The Billikens welcome back 39 student-athletes (24 men, 15 women) from their 2024-25 squads. The men's team also includes five freshmen, while the women's team features 11 newcomers (10 freshmen, one transfer).
Among the Billikens' returnees are 17 competitors (10 men, seven women) who scored in individual events and/or relays at the 2025 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. Two of the 17 are swimmers who finished among the top eight in an event –
Brae Sanchez (fifth in the 100 breast) and
Logan Townsend (fifth in the 200 free).
Townsend (14th in the 100 free),
Noah Benton (10th in the 400 IM, 16th in the 1650 free),
Ben Mears (12th in 3-meter diving, 14th in 1-meter diving) and
Zach Byars (12th in the 200 back, 16th in the 100 back) were multiple-event scorers.
Saint Louis also returns several swimmers who established school records a year ago. Sanchez and
Kenna Cashman set school marks in the men's 100 breast and women's 100 breast, respectively. Sanchez was joined by
Colton Mosley and
Evan Crim on the record-setting men's 200 medley relay squad, while Cashman,
Sarah Dingus,
Meghan Eng and
Hanna Whitney broke the SLU women's 200 medley relay mark.
Following the dual meet with Washington University, the Billikens host UMSL on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 5:30 p.m. Saint Louis' home schedule also includes a tri-meet with Southwest Baptist and Rockhurst Nov. 1 and a pair of duals with Omaha Jan. 16-17.
