ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis volleyball opened the Billiken Invitational with a 2-0 record Friday, earning sweeps over Austin Peay and Murray State at Chaifetz Pavilion. The Billikens have swept each of their wins so far this season.

Set 1: SLU 25, APSU 23
The Billikens fell behind 5-0 before rallying to tie at 7-7. Trailing 22-18 late, SLU closed strong to win 25-23.

Set 2: SLU 25, APSU 17
A 7-0 run gave SLU a 9-6 lead, and the Billikens controlled the rest of the set. They hit .577 in the frame and used a 5-0 closing run to seal it.

Set 3: SLU 25, APSU 21
The third set was tight until SLU pulled ahead 11-9 and never trailed again. Austin Peay cut the margin to one at 19-18, but the Billikens closed it out 25-21.

Set 1: SLU 25, MSU 19
The Billikens trailed 10-6 before a 9-1 run made it 15-11. Anna Alexander delivered two aces during the spurt. Ellie Rink had six kills in the set.

Set 2: SLU 25, MSU 16
SLU opened with a 5-0 run and never looked back, leading by as many as nine. Rink again had six kills.

Set 3: SLU 25, MSU 12
Murray State briefly led 8-7, but the Billikens responded with a 7-0 run and cruised to the sweep.
Notables:

Rink recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs.

Jansen added nine kills and five block assists, hitting .643 with no errors.

Brenning finished with 31 assists, seven digs, four kills, three aces and three block assists.

SLU hit .313 as a team, while holding Murray State to -.011.
