ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University senior
Abby Mallo is included in two D1Softball preseason player rankings, the organization announced Monday.
Mallo, who earned Atlantic 10 Conference co-Player of the Year and first-team All-Conference accolades a year ago, is No. 26 on D1Softball's Preseason Mid-Major Top 100 list, which comprises players from outside the "Power 4" conferences. She is rated No. 9 on the organization's preseason list of the nation's top catchers, a group that includes players from all NCAA Division I programs.
Mallo was a 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Midwest Region second-team selection. She was named Most Outstanding Player of the A-10 Championship after helping lead the Billikens to their first conference tournament title and first NCAA Tournament bid.
In addition, Mallo was a four-time A-10 Player of the Week, a three-time selection to the NFCA's "Selected Top Performances" list and a two-time choice in Michella Chester's NCAA "Lineup of the Week."
Mallo set Saint Louis and A-10 single-season records with 82 RBIs, ranking fifth nationally. Her school-record 20 home runs equaled the A-10 mark and ranked 23rd nationally. Mallo also landed among the Division I top 30 with a school-record and league-leading 140 total bases (24th) and a conference-best 14 runners caught stealing (26th).
Mallo's 20 homers lifted her career total to a school-record 43. She has 166 RBIs, just seven shy of SLU's career standard.
Mallo established career highs in nine additional categories in 2025, including team bests in hits (65), doubles (13), slugging percentage (.782) and batting average (.363). She was second in hits and doubles, third in slugging percentage and fifth in batting average in the A-10. Mallo's career-high .456 on-base percentage and 40 runs ranked sixth and eighth, respectively, in the conference.
