WHAT'S ON TAP?

  • Saint Louis returns to Chaifetz Arena and welcomes the George Washington Revolutionaries on Tuesday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
  • It's the first of two home games this week for the Billikens. Next up, Dayton comes to town on Friday, Jan. 30, for the Billiken Blizzard in a nationally televised matchup on CBS Sports Network. That game will tip at 7 p.m.

FOLLOWING THE ACTION

  • Tuesday's game will be televised on FanDuel Sports Network Extra and will stream live on ESPN+. Tom Ackerman, Troy Robertson and Tamar Sher will call the action. 
  • 104.1 FM / 1120 AM KMOX is the home for Billiken Basketball on the radio. Billiken Hall of Famers and longtime SLU men's basketball radio partners Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will call the action for all SLU games, both at home and on the road. Billiken Basketball sends a special salute to Rammer, who is in his 40th season as the radio voice of SLU hoops, and Austin who is in year No. 35. The duo were recently honored with the Burnes-Broeg Award at the Missouri Athletic Club's Jack Buck Awards.

  • Saint Louis is ranked No. 21 in the AP Top 25 this week.
  • A win Tuesday would make the Billikens 20-1, the best record in program history through 21 games. The 1993-94 squad was 19-1 before falling in its 21st game. 
  • SLU's 13-game winning streak is the sixth-longest active streak in the NCAA. It's the best streak in a season for the Bills since the 2013-14 squad won a school-record 19 straight. SLU is 7-0 in A-10 play for the second time in school history (2013-14).
  • The Billikens lead the nation in scoring margin at +24.6. SLU is 9th in the nation in scoring offense with 91.5 ppg.
  • Defensively, the Bills lead the NCAA in FG% defense (.355).
  • The Billikens are No. 1 in both offensive and defensive effective field-goal percentage at KenPom.com. 
  • SLU ranks sixth in rebounds per game (43.1) and sixth in rebound margin (+11.2). The Bills lead the NCAA in defensive rpg (31.8).
  • The Billikens are one of three teams in the NCAA (Miami [OH] and Villanova) with six players averaging double figures.
  • Ishan Sharma drilled a school-record-tying nine 3-pointers in the Bills' last game at St. Bonaventure. His 29 points were the most by a Billiken in a game this season. 
  • Robbie Avila leads the Billikens in scoring with 12.8 ppg. He leads all centers in NCAA Division I with 4.0 assists/game. 
  • Dion Brown (11.4 ppg) averages a team-best 6.1 rpg.
  • Trey Green (11.2 ppg) leads the league and is 8th in the NCAA in 3FG% (.455). He leads the A-10 with 2.89 3s per game. 
  • Amari McCottry (10.8 ppg) is second on the team with 5.7 rpg. 
  • Kellen Thames (10.3 ppg) and Quentin Jones (10.0 ppg) have earned A-10 Player of the Week honors this season.
  • Robbie Avila has been named to preseason Watch Lists for the Naismith Trophy, Oscar Robertson Trophy, Wooden Award and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award. 
  • Billiken head coach Josh Schertz is in his 18th season as a collegiate head coach. His .779 winning percentage ranks No. 8 among active coaches in the NCAA.

ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON

  • The George Washington Revolutionaries (13-7, 4-3 A-10) won at home against Richmond their last time out. That win snapped a two-game slide for the Revs in A-10 play.
  • The Revs are led by 6-11 center Rafael Castro. The A-10 Player of the Year candidate leads GW in scoring with 16.1 ppg. He shoots 64.3 percent from the field, ninth in the NCAA. Castro also ranks third in the conference in rebounds per game (8.5), fourth in steals per game (1.9) and sixth in blocked shots per game (1.4). He gets to the line more than any player in the A-10.
  • Garrett Johnson has started the last two games and averages 13.7 ppg. Trey Autry and Tre Dinkins average 10.8 ppg. Dinkins, a transfer from Duquesne, makes a team-best 2.75 3s per game and is second in the A-10 to Trey Green in 3FG percentage (.420).
  • Christian Jones is the fifth GW player averaging double figures with 10.5 ppg. He leads the squad in assists with 3.2/game.
  • GW is second to the Billikens in the A-10 in scoring offense, averaging 85.8 ppg. The Revs also rank second to SLU in 3-pointers made per game (10.1), scoring margin (+13.1) and eFG% (.565).
  • Head coach Chris Caputo is in his fourth season at GW. He was a longtime associate head coach/assistant coach on the staff at the University of Miami under Jim Larrañaga.

SERIES HISTORY

  • This is the 25th meeting all-time between the Billikens and Revolutionaries. The Billikens lead the all-time series 14-10.
  • Last season, GW snapped a seven-game SLU winning streak in the series with a 67-61 win at the Smith Center in Washington, D.C.
  • George Washington has never won in St. Louis in 10 previous trips here.
