ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University women's basketball fell to the Davidson Wildcats, 71-55, snapping the Billikens' four-game winning streak.
A choppy start by both teams stalled the first quarter, with Davidson holding a slight 5-0 lead five minutes into the game. The Billikens got most of their offense in the quarter's final minutes, knocking down a pair of free throws and an
Alyssa Koerkenmeier layup in the last 25 seconds.
The Billikens kept the second quarter close, with the Saint Louis backcourt scoring the team's 13 points in the quarter. The Bills fought back in the quarter, shooting 41.7% from the field and keeping the game close heading into halftime, as the Wildcats led 28-20.
Zhykera Brown and the Billikens played their best basketball of the day in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 21-20 in those 10 minutes. Brown logged big minutes for the Billikens, scoring eight points and shooting 3-3 in the quarter. Four other Billikens scored in the quarter, and the team finished 57.1% in the quarter.
Davidson led 48-41 heading into the final quarter, giving the Billikens a chance to mount a comeback. Saint Louis fought hard, but the Wildcats took control of the quarter and secured a 71-55 win.
