Billikens Post Seven Victories at STL Showcase

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Saint Louis won five individual events and two relays Saturday at the Billikens' season-opening meet, the STL Showcase.
 
No team scores were kept at the meet, which also included Missouri-St. Louis, McKendree and Washington University.
 
Michael Stumpf claimed two diving victories, winning the 1-meter (273.50) and 3-meter (283.90) competitions.

The Billikens won both 100 back events as Marissa Williams touched first in the women's race (58.26) and Nolan Kohl captured the men's race (50.35). Kira Hunter topped the field in the women's 200 IM (2:11.04).
 
Saint Louis was the winner in the women's 850 free relay as Sasha Jancekova, Sarah Ramos, Williams and Anya Brueggeman covered the route in 8:26.77. The Billiken quartet of Brandon Suliga, Brueggeman, Izabel Schmidt and Frankie Adamo tied for first in the mixed 200 free relay (1:30.18).
 
Ramos turned in runner-up finishes in the 50 free (24.71) and 100 free (53.13). Also posting second-place performances for the women's team were Lexi Stramel in the 200 IM (2:11.12), Faith McAdam in the 100 fly (58.55), Trevi Ferranti in the 100 back (59.04) and Hanna Whitney in the 100 breast (1:06.50).
 
Additional top-five swims for the Billiken women were recorded by Ferranti, third in the 50 free (24.87); Meghan Eng, fourth in the 100 back (59.49); Brueggeman, fourth in the 100 free (53.58); Tierney Kohl, fifth in the 200 IM (2:13.15); and Emmy Barrett, fifth in the 100 back (59.51).
 
Also placing among the top five for the Billiken men were Kyle Algrim, third in the 200 IM (1:56.08); Cole Wergley, fourth in the 50 free (21.54); Suliga, fourth in the 100 free (46.84); and Ethan Hudock, fifth in the 50 free (21.56).
 
The Billikens host a dual meet with Rockhurst Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m.
