WASHINGTON – Saint Louis field hockey freshman midfielder RB McGowan has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Rookie of the Week, the leauge announced Monday.

McGowan helped the Billikens to a 2-0 week, highlighted by a 3-2 shootout victory at Lock Haven on Friday and a 3-0 shutout of Maryville on Sunday at the SLU Field Hockey Complex.

The St. Louis native recorded an assist in Sunday's victory over Maryville, setting up Macy Budd's goal in the 27th minute to give the Billikens a three-goal advantage. McGowan also registered a shot on goal in the victory as Saint Louis outshot Maryville 17-1 and held a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.

McGowan has made an immediate impact in her freshman campaign. She has two goals and two assists for six points this season

McGowan becomes the first Billiken to earn A10 Rookie of the Week honors this season.

Saint Louis (4-7, 1-2 A10) returns to Atlantic 10 action Friday, Oct. 9, hosting Richmond at the SLU Field Hockey Complex. Game time is 2 p.m.
