Billikens Fall at Fordham, 2-1

BRONX, N.Y. – Saint Louis team took a 1-0 lead in the second half, but Fordham scored twice in the final 18 minutes to rally for a 2-1 victory over the Billikens Wednesday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action at Moglia Stadium at Jack Coffey Field.

The loss moves the Billikens to 4-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in A10 play, while Fordham improves to 5-4-2 and 3-0-1 in conference action.

After a scoreless first half, Saint Louis broke through in the 60th minute. Axel Torres collected a pass from Andrew Heckenlaible and scored the first goal of his career to give the Billikens a 1-0 advantage.

Fordham found the equalizer in the 73rd minute when Elias Betancourt scored off an assist from Marc-Alexandre Happi Emaga.

The Rams then struck again with just one minute remaining in regulation. Betancourt scored his second goal of the night at 89:00 off a long throw-in to give Fordham a 2-1 lead.

Saint Louis finished with a 7-4 advantage in shots and put four shots on goal, while Fordham scored on its two shots on frame. The Billikens also earned five corner kicks to nine for the Rams. 

The Billikens continue their A10 road swing at La Salle on Saturday. Game time is 6 p.m. CT.
