WHAT'S ON TAP?

  • The Billikens head to Chicago to take on Loyola Chicago on Friday night. Game time from Gentile Arena is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
  • Up next, SLU heads to Kingston, R.I., for a meeting with the Rhode Island Rams Tuesday night at 6 p.m. CT. The Bills are back at Chaifetz Arena Friday, Feb. 20, when they take on VCU in the annual Billiken Blue Out.

  • Friday's game will be televised on ESPN2 as part of the A-10 Friday Night Showcase. Mike Corey and Dr. John Giannini call the action.
  • 104.1 FM / 1120 AM KMOX is the home for Billiken Basketball on the radio. Billiken Hall of Famers and longtime SLU men's basketball radio partners Bob Ramsey and Earl Austin Jr. will call the action for all SLU games, both at home and on the road. Billiken Basketball sends a special salute to Rammer, who is in his 40th season as the radio voice of SLU hoops, and Austin who is in year No. 35. The duo were recently honored with the Burnes-Broeg Award at the Missouri Athletic Club's Jack Buck Awards.

NEWS & NOTES

  • Saint Louis checked in at No. 18 in this week's AP Top 25, marking the fourth straight week the Billikens have been ranked. It is their highest ranking since climbing to No. 10 in consecutive polls late in the 2013–14 season.
  • SLU is 23-1 for the first time in school history. The Bills are five wins away from the school-record win total of 28, set by the 2013-14 squad.
  • The Bills have won 17 straight, the second-longest active winning streak in the nation, trailing only Miami (24). The 2013–14 Billikens hold the school record for consecutive wins with 19.
  • The Billikens lead the nation in scoring margin at +23.3. SLU is fifth in the nation in scoring offense with 91.0 ppg. The Bills are tied for the NCAA lead with seven 100-point games.
  • Defensively, the Bills lead the NCAA in FG% defense (.364).
  • The Bills are No. 1 in defensive AND offensive eFG%. (KenPom). 
  • SLU is also top 10 in the NCAA in rebound margin (+9.9). It leads the NCAA in defensive rpg (31.1).
  • The Billikens feature a balanced scoring attack with seven players averaging 9.5 ppg or more. Eight different Billikens have led the team in scoring in a game this season.
  • Robbie Avila leads the Billikens in scoring with 12.8 ppg. He leads all centers in NCAA Division I in assists per game (4.3) and  3-pointers made per game (1.9).
  • Trey Green averages 12.0 ppg and leads the league in 3-pointers made per game (3.13) and 3FG% (.471, third in the NCAA). His 72 3-pointers are already 10th on the Billikens' single-season list.
  • Kellen Thames (.677) and Dion Brown (.615) have posted FG%s ranking in SLU's top-3 all-time for a single season.

ABOUT LOYOLA CHICAGO

  • The Loyola Chicago Ramblers enter Friday's game 6-21 overall and 2-10 in Atlantic 10 play. 
  • The Ramblers have been hit hard by injuries. They were picked to finish fifth in a tight A-10 preseason coaches and media poll, including snagging two first-place votes.
  • Three Ramblers average 11 points or more – Justin Moore (11.4 ppg), Xavier Amos (11.0 ppg) and Miles Rubin (11.0 ppg).
  • Rubin is one of the top defensive big men in the country. He leads the A-10 and is 14th nationally with 2.36 blocks per game. He is also fourth in the league in rebounds per game.
  • Drew Valentine is in his fifth season at Loyola Chicago. He has been on the staff of two programs that have made a Final Four – with Loyola Chicago as an assistant coach in 2018, and with Michigan State as a graduate assistant in 2015.

SERIES HISTORY

  • This is the 54th meeting all-time against the Ramblers. Loyola Chicago leads the series 28-25, including a 14-10 mark in games played in Chicago.
  • This is the fourth season the two teams are meeting as members of the A-10. From 1982 to 1991, the Billikens and Ramblers met regularly as members of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference.
