CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Saint Louis fell 11-3 to Southeast Missouri on Tuesday night.
The Billikens move to 0-4 on the season while Southeast Missouri improves to 2-2.
Saint Louis struck first in the second inning when
Max McGwire launched a solo home run to left field to give the Billikens an early 1-0 lead.
Southeast Missouri answered with a five-run third inning to take control. The Redhawks tied the game on a steal of second that brought in a run on the throw before adding a two-run homer and two RBI hits later in the frame to build a 5-1 advantage.
Matt Deutsch cut into the deficit in the fifth with a solo shot to left, his first of the season, making it 5-2. However, Southeast Missouri responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and added three more in the sixth to extend the lead to 11-2.
Saint Louis plated its final run in the eighth.
Ahmaad Duff reached earlier in the inning and eventually scored when
Joey Canzoni drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 11-3.
