ST. LOUIS – The Billiken baseball team completed their sweep over Bellarmine with 6-4 and 8-0 win on Saturday at the Billiken Sports Center.
GAME ONE
Chase Beattie was the hero of game one, driving in five of the Billikens six runs. He hit a three-run homerun in the first inning.
Matthew Arnold had a solo homerun of his own in the second inning and the Billikens lead 4-0.
Bellarmine added one run in the third before Beattie hit a two-run homer to put the Bills up 6-1. The Knights added three more runs, one in the sixth, seventh and ninth but Saint Louis held on for the game one win, 6-4.
Dylan Gormont got the first win of his SLU career, allowing one run.
Loren Georger got the save and the Billikens pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts with four walks.
GAME TWO
The Billiken bats continued their hot streak in game two of the double header with a stellar pitching performance to shutout the Knights.
Saint Louis plated three runs in the second inning highlighted by a
Joey Canzoni two RBI double.
Canzoni hit a solo homerun in the fourth to give SLU a 4-0 lead. The Bills plated two more runs in the fifth, the
Max McGwire hit a two-run homer to seal the game at 8-0 in the seventh.
Noah Andrunas threw 7.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit with two walks and five strikeouts.
