ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis split its Atlantic 10 doubleheader with Dayton on Saturday at the Billiken Sports Center, earning a 9-1 victory in the opener to win the series before falling 12-2 in the nightcap.
Game 1 – Saint Louis 9, Dayton 1
The Billikens used a big early inning and strong pitching to take the first game of the doubleheader 9-1.
Saint Louis struck first with a five-run second inning to seize control. The Billikens added another run in the fifth before breaking the game open with three more in the seventh.
Dayton managed its lone run in the seventh inning, but the Flyers were limited to just four hits on the afternoon.
Saint Louis finished with nine hits in the game.
Ty Holman threw 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and throwing four strikeouts.

Game 2 – Dayton 12, Saint Louis 2
Dayton responded in the second game, using a late offensive surge to defeat the Billikens 12-2.
The Flyers built an early lead with runs in the second and third innings before Saint Louis answered with single runs in the second and fourth to stay within striking distance at 3-2.
The game turned in the eighth inning when Dayton erupted for seven runs to pull away.
Dayton finished with 16 hits in the contest while the Billikens totaled 12 hits but were unable to capitalize.
