Billikens Roll Past Georgia, Set School Wins Record

BUFFALO – Saint Louis blew past Georgia 102-77 Thursday night in the first round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y.

It was the school-record 29th win of the season for the Billikens (29-5). They advance to Saturday's second round to face No. 1 seed Michigan. Game time on CBS is set for 11:10 a.m. CT / 12:10 p.m. ET.

The Billikens set all kinds of school records for an NCAA Tournament game, including points (102), field goals (42), assists (27) and margin of victory (+25). The 102 points were a KeyBank Center record in an NCAA Tournament game as well.

All nine Billiken rotation players scored. Dion Brown led the way with 18 points, while Amari McCottry turned in 13 points and a team-best nine rebounds. Seven players had assists, including Robbie Avila, Quentin Jones and Trey Green, who each dished out a team-best five assists.

Saint Louis finished 58.3 percent (42-72) from the field and 81.8 percent (9-11) from the line.

The Billikens led wire-to-wire. Brown scored the first six points of the game to put the Bills ahead early and they never looked back.

SLU manufactured a 12-0 run as part of a sizzling first half. SLU ended the period on a 5-0 flurry, giving the Billikens a 17-point lead at the break at 49-32.

It was much of the same in the second half. The Billikens exploded for an 18-0 run to open the half as SLU kept its foot on the gas. The lead grew to as many as 40 points in the second half as SLU coasted to the 102-77 victory.
