THE BASICS
•
Anna Christ fired a four-hit shutout and homered twice in the opener,
Riley Nelson tossed a six-hit shutout of her own in game two, and Saint Louis defeated Loyola Chicago 6-0 and 8-0 in an Atlantic 10 Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Loyola Softball Park.
•The game-two win gave
Christy Connoyer 400 victories as the Billikens' head coach.
•SLU (13-15, 5-3 A-10) ran its winning streak to five games and its shutout streak to four. The Bills have six shutouts this season.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•Saint Louis struck quickly with two first-inning runs. Walks to
Karsen Jany,
Abby Mallo and Christ loaded the bases with two outs. Jany scored on an error, and
Scout Gallagher's single brought home Mallo.
•In the third, a walk to
Abby Ulsas and
Bella Stephens' double set the stage for Christ's three-run blast that made it 5-0.
•Loyola loaded the bases in the fifth, but Christ worked out of the jam with no damage.
•Christ led off the seventh with her team-high-tying fifth home run of the season for the Bills' final tally.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Christ struck out four and improved to 4-5 on the season.
•Jany, Ulsas and
Sophia Boente had a single apiece.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
•SLU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third. Boente reached on an error leading off the inning, advanced to third on
Anna Rolla's sacrifice and Jany's groundout and scored on Ulsas' single.
•The Billikens erupted for five runs in the fourth. Following walks to Christ and Gallagher,
Kate Proffitt's single scored pinch runner
Allie Branstetter. Boente sacrificed, and pinch hitter
Ava Wombles delivered a two-run double. Wombles advanced to third on a groundout and scored on Ulsas' infield single, and following a walk to Mallo, Stephens capped the scoring with an RBI single.
•Saint Louis tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh. Mallo led off with a single, and with two outs, Gallagher smacked her second home run of the year.

GAME 2 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
•Nelson scattered six hits and did not walk a batter in improving her record to 4-5.
•Proffitt added a single for a two-hit game.
•Christ recorded a single.
