WASHINGTON – Saint Louis redshirt-sophomore pitcher/utility
Anna Christ is the Atlantic 10 Conference softball Pitcher of the Week for March 16-22, the league office announced Monday.
Christ excelled in the circle and at the plate in helping the Billikens go 3-1 last week, including a 2-1 A-10 series victory at Loyola Chicago. She fired a four-hit shutout with four strikeouts, homered twice, collected four RBIs and drew a walk in a series-opening win at Loyola.
Christ had a hit in each of SLU's other three games, including a double vs. SIUE, and for the week led the Billikens in batting average (5-for-10, .500), total bases (12) and slugging percentage (1.200) while posting a .615 on-base percentage.
The shutout of Loyola was Christ's fourth victory of the season and lowered her ERA to a team-best 2.63, ranking fourth in the A-10. Offensively, she is tied for the team lead with five home runs (tied for fourth in the A-10) and tied for second with 17 RBIs (tied for eighth in the A-10).
The Billikens play a single game at Lindenwood on Wednesday (4 p.m.) before hosting Rhode Island in a three-game A-10 series Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game start at noon.
