HENRICO, Va. – The Billikens fought hard, but fell 59-51against La Salle on Thursday night at Henrico Sports and Events Center to end their season.
La Salle took an 11-4 lead early in the game. Lex Nelson hit a three as time expired in the quarter to cut the lead to 15-12
SLU was able to cut the La Salle lead at 21-19 before the Explorers went on an 12-2 run to create some distance at 31-21 at the half.
The Billikens opened the second half with a 5-0 run, but then was held scoreless for six minutes and the Explorers regained a 40-29 advantage. Saint Louis was able to go on another run at the end of the quarter and trailed 42-35.
Each time Saint Louis got within single digits, La Salle would answer back and push the lead back to 10. The Explorers led 55-45 with three minutes to go, SLU went on a 6-0 run and trailed 55-51 with a minute remaining. La Salle was able to hold on for the 59-51 victory.
