ST. LOUIS – Forward Alon Michaeli, who spent last season at the University of Colorado, has transferred to Saint Louis University to continue his basketball career. He will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2026-27 season.
A native of Kfar Saba, Israel, Michaeli played in 31 games for the Buffaloes in 2025-26.Â
"Alon really fits our prototype in terms of being a high-processing player with a well-rounded skill set and plus positional size," SLU head coach Josh Schertz said. "He can stretch the floor with his shooting, but also has the tools to be a terrific playmaker due to his ability to drive the ball along with his size and feel.
"Defensively, Alon brings a great versatility and can absorb a lot of different types of matchups," Schertz added. "Although young in grade, Alon through his basketball and military experiences will bring a high level of maturity and a professional approach to our program."
Michaeli averaged 7.2 points and 3.9 rebounds across 31 appearances during his freshman season at Colorado. He shot 40 percent from the field and 72 percent from the stripe. Michaeli scored in double figures on 11 occasions, including a career-best 20-point outing against Providence early in the season. He poured in 18 points in the Buffs' postseason College Basketball Crown matchup against Oklahoma.
Michaeli spent the 2024-25 season with Bnei Hertzeliya in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, widely regarded as the top professional league in Israel. Playing against veteran competition at just 19 years old, he appeared in 22 games and shot 51 percent from the field. Michaeli earned the opportunity with Bnei Hertzeliya after a breakout 2023-24 campaign for Elitzur Maccabi Netanya in Israel's Second Division, where he averaged 10.5 points and a team-high 5.1 rebounds across 30 games en route to earning the league's Rising Star Award.
An experienced international competitor, Michaeli represented Israel at the 2025 FIBA U20 EuroBasket Championships in Greece. He ranked third among all tournament scorers at 17.3 points per game and eighth in rebounding at 7.6 boards per contest, recording three 20-point performances, including a 28-point effort against Poland in group play. He also competed for Israel at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket and represented his country at the U16 and U18 European Championships from 2021-23.
