ABOUT THE BILLIKENS

Saint Louis has 11 returning players and 10 newcomers on the roster this season. Last season, the Bills finished 5-10 overall and were in the hunt to qualify for their first A-10 Championship appearance until the final game of the league season.

Among SLU's returning players is senior Sierra Larson, last season's leading scorer with six goals. She has 33 points (13G, 7A) throughout her career.

Junior goalie Abby Schalow returns. Last season, she was third in the Atlantic 10 in save percentage and fourth in goals against average while claiming three A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Head coach Laura Hurff is in her second season at Saint Louis after serving as interim head coach last year. Assistant coach McKenna Sergi is in her first season on the Billiken sideline. Gracie Burns, former Michigan State standout, joins the Billikens as a graduate assistant coach.

ABOUT MICHIGAN STATE

The Spartans open their season Friday against Ohio at Pruitt. Last year, MSU went 5-13 overall. Tamara Durante is in her first season as head coach of the Spartans after spending the previous 11 seasons on the Spartan sideline as an assistant.

The Bobcats open the season on Friday, taking on Michigan State at Pruitt Field. Ohio is coming off a 5-13 season a year ago. Among the returners for the Bobcats is last season's leading scorer and second-team All-Conference selection, Tiana Nhamoinesu.
