SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Tanner Anderson scored early in the first half, but Notre Dame found a late equalizer as the No. 8 Saint Louis men's soccer team played the Fighting Irish to a 1-1 draw Friday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Billikens move to 1-1-1 on the season, while Notre Dame moves to 0-1-2.
Anderson gave the Billikens the lead in the sixth minute, finishing from close range off a cross from Theo Franca. The goal was Anderson's second of the season and helped Saint Louis take a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The Billikens had opportunities to add to their lead in the second half, with Jackson Delkus and Alander Soares forcing saves from Notre Dame goalkeeper Blake Kelly.Â
However, the Fighting Irish pulled even in the 84th minute when Tristan Tropeano scored off an assist from Michael Capretto.
Lucas McPartlin made two saves in goal for the Billikens, while Kelly also recorded two saves. Notre Dame held an 8-5 advantage in shots and a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.
