ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis scored once in each half and controlled play throughout in a 2-0 victory over Green Bay Wednesday night in non-conference men's soccer action at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
The Billikens improved to 2-1-1 on the season with the victory, while Green Bay fell to 0-4-1.
Theo Franca gave the Billikens the lead in the 38th minute. Joao Pereira sent a nice ball ahead to Franca, who finished it for his first goal of the season to send Saint Louis into halftime with a 1-0 advantage.
The Billikens added an insurance goal in the 72nd minute when Andrew Heckenlaible found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. Xavi O'Neil started the scoring play, Jack DiMaria flicked it on, and Heckenlaible put it in the net to give the Bills the two-goal cushion.
Saint Louis dominated the stat sheet, outshooting Green Bay 13-1 and holding a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Billikens also earned five corner kicks to Green Bay's two and held a decisive advantage in possession.
SLU's Christian Herluf made one save to record the shutout, while Green Bay goalkeeper Drew Swancutt made five saves.
The Billikens are back in action on Sunday when they head to Edwardsville, Illinois, for the annual Bronze Boot matchup against SIUE. Game time at Korte Stadium is set for 6 p.m.
