MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Saint Louis captured its second consecutive victory on Saturday, defeating Mercyhurst 6-0 at Cristy Freese Field in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.
SLU improved to 2-3 overall with the win, while Mercyhurst slipped to 1-4 on the year.
Sierra Larson recorded a career-best three goals, the first hat trick by a Billiken since Josefina Perez on Oct. 27, 2024.
The Billikens wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. Brynn Newborn tallied just 1:40 into the match, her second goal in as many games, to give SLU an early 1-0 advantage.
Larson scored just two minutes later to make it 2-0 Bills, with Newborn earning the assist.
Just 37 seconds into the third quarter, Larson scored off a pass from Dawson Packwood to make it 3-0 Saint Louis.
RB McGowan got into the scoring mix with her first career goal. Later in the third quarter, Larson completed her hat trick as the Billikens opened up a 5-0 lead.
Ella Etherington scored her second goal in as many games with a fourth-quarter tally to make it 6-0.
SLU dominated the statistical categories, out-shooting the Lakers 22-4 and holding an 11-5 advantage in penalty corners. Abby Schalow made a pair of saves, while she and Kerri O'Donnell combined to keep Mercyhurst off the scoreboard for the Bills' first shutout of the season.
The Billikens are back in action Sunday when they take on host Central Michigan. Game time is noon (CT).
