WASHINGTON – Saint Louis sophomore goalkeeper
Pepper Escher is the Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week for Sept. 7-13, the league office announced Monday.
Escher posted a 0.50 goals against average and a .929 save percentage in two games last week. She began the week by making what was then a career-high five saves in a 4-0 shutout of Southeast Missouri State. Escher then registered a career-high eight saves in a 1-0 loss to Kansas, including a diving stop of a penalty kick in the 86th minute that kept the Billikens within a goal.
Escher ranks among the nation's leading goalkeepers with an .889 save percentage (tied for 15th) and a 0.44 goals against average (tied for 23rd). She also has two shutouts.
Saint Louis concluded the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 4-2-2 record. The Billikens begin A10 play Saturday, Sept. 19, hosting VCU at 1 p.m.
