Saint Louis plays its first two home games of the 2026 campaign this weekend, hosting nationally ranked Louisville on Friday and Mercyhurst on Sunday.
Game time against the Cardinals on Friday has been pushed up to 10:30 a.m. at the SLU Field Hockey Complex. The Billikens take on Mercyhurst at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
ABOUT THE BILLIKENS
Saint Louis (0-2) is coming off a weekend that saw the Billikens come up just short against Michigan State and Ohio. Freshman Maddie Croghan scored for the Billikens in a 2-1 loss to Ohio.
Among SLU's 11 returning players is senior Sierra Larson, last season's leading scorer with six goals. She has 33 points (13G, 7A) throughout her career.
Junior goalie Abby Schalow also returns. Last season, she was third in the Atlantic 10 in save percentage and fourth in goals against average while claiming three A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Head coach Laura Hurff is in her second season at Saint Louis after serving as interim head coach last year. Assistant coach McKenna Sergi is in her first season on the Billiken sideline. Gracie Burns joins the Billikens as a graduate assistant coach.
ABOUT LOUISVILLE
The Cardinals are 2-0 after winning a pair of games last week in thrilling fashion, a 2-1 shootout win over then-No. 10 Miami and a 2-1 overtime win against Indiana. Louisville is ranked No. 15 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association poll released on Sept. 1, up three spots from its preseason ranking. Goalie Emily Young is the reigning NFHCA National Player of the Week after she surrendered just two goals and made 22 saves last week for the Cards.
ABOUT MERCYHURST
The Lakers, in just their third season in NCAA Division I, are under the direction of first-year head coach Rachel Bannatyne. Mercyhurst fell 5-2 in its opener against the Atlantic 10's Lock Haven University. The Lakers took a 2-1 lead into halftime before yielding four unanswered goals in the season-opening loss.

UP NEXT
The Billikens head to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, for a pair of games next weekend. In a rare scheduling quirk, SLU will again play Mercyhurst for the second straight game next Saturday. Host Central Michigan is the opponent next Sunday.
