This year marks the 30th anniversary of Saint Louis University's inaugural women's soccer season. As part of the recognition of this milestone, SLUBillikens.com is highlighting the program's 11 (eight individuals and three teams) Billiken Hall of Fame inductees.
Â
This week's featured Hall of Famer is 2022 inductee Trisha Underberg, a midfielder on SLU's first team in 1996 and four-time All-Conference player whose name still appears numerous times in the Billiken record book.

One of 15 freshmen joining Saint Louis University's first-year women's soccer team in 1996,
Trisha Underberg arrived at SLU with competitive credentials that indicated she could become a significant contributor to the Billikens' fledgling program. A
Parade All-American and conference co-Player of the Year in her senior season at St. Thomas Aquinas-Mercy High School, Underberg tallied 67 goals and 41 assists during her four-year prep career.
Â
Underberg played in 19 of SLU's 20 games, all in the starting lineup, in her rookie campaign and made a creditable first impression, notching three goals and four assists and earning All-Conference second-team plaudits for the Bills' 12-6-2 squad. What followed, however, was a three-year scoring stretch (68 points) that has been exceeded by Billiken players just six times in succeeding seasons.
Â
Underberg emerged as one of Conference USA's top offensive forces as a sophomore, scoring eight goals and tying for the team lead in assists (eight) and points (24). The performance elevated her to a spot on the All-Conference first team and helped Saint Louis post an 11-5-3 record. Although the Billikens endured a tough season in 1998, Underberg earned a second-team All-Conference nod and led SLU or tied for the team lead in goals (six), assists (six) and points (18).
Â
It all came together for the Billikens in 1999 as they turned in a 14-3-3 record and claimed the C-USA regular-season title. Underberg led the charge, scoring a career- and team-high 11 goals and adding four assists for a career- and team-high 26 points. Her selection to the C-USA first team made her the first in program history to garner All-Conference plaudits in either four or five seasons; only five other SLU players have realized that accomplishment. Underberg also collected first-team All-Region honors.
Â
Underberg finished with school records of 78 points, 28 goals, 22 assists, nine game-winning goals and 176 shots. While all of those marks have been surpassed, she remains one of only five players in the program's current career top 10 in each category. Underberg is one of only four players to lead the Billikens in points in three different seasons, and her 11 goals and 26 points in 1999 tied SLU's single-season records at the time.
Â
In addition to her success on the pitch, Underberg was the 1997 C-USA women's soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year, a 1999 CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team honoree and SLU's 1999-2000 Female Senior Student-Athlete Award recipient.
Â
Underberg was named to Saint Louis' All-Decade Team in 2005, selected to SLU's 25th Anniversary Team in 2021 and inducted into the Billiken Hall of Fame in 2022.
