Billiken Baseball Recruiting Coordinator/Assistant Coach Evan Pratte joined the Saint Louis staff in January of the 2019 season.
In a season unlike any other, due to COVID-19, the Billikens finished 17-31 in 2021. They held a 6-10 conference record, facing just four league foes on the year. The Billikens picked up a win against against No. 25 Indiana State on April 3, marking just the second victory over a ranked team since the 2017 season.
2020 was cut short due to COVID-19, but Pratte helped lead the Billikens to a 10-6 record, with a team that consisted of 21 newcomers, including 11 freshmen. Saint Louis pitching returned just 3.6 percent of its starts (2-of-55) from the 2019 season. 14 of the 16 games were started by a new face in the rotation.
In 2019, the Billikens went 25-30, finishing seventh in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Senior RHP Connor Lehmann was drafted in the seventh round, pick 203 by the San Diego Padres. He became the third highest draft pick at SLU in the modern draft era. The other two were also during Hendrickson's time.
Pratte received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Southwest Missouri State University in 1996.
Prior to completing his Bachelor's degree, Pratte was drafted and signed in the 13th round of the 1991 MLB Draft by the Detroit Tigers. From 1991-95, he played for teams located in Niagara Falls, Fayetteville, Lakeland, London, Trenton and Jacksonville. Pratte reached and played three seasons at the AA level and earned himself a spot on the 1992 South Atlantic League All Star Team.
From August 1996-February 1998, Pratte was a volunteer assistant coach at Southwest Missouri State University. He assisted with coaching instruction of infield and hitting skills and helped organize and execute official and unofficial visits by recruits.
He coached the 1997 Nevada Griffon Summer League team that was the regular season champion of the Jayhawk League. The team finished as national runner-ups in the National Baseball Congress World Series.
Since 1998, Pratte has been at the University of Missouri serving as both an assistant baseball coach (1998-2010) and as director of baseball operations (2010-18). With the Tigers, he coached all aspects of defense, fielding and hitting as well as coaching third base during competitions. The assistant coach also assisted in all recruiting efforts with direct conversations including recruits, parents and coaches. He directed and assisted in coordinating and organizing campus recruiting visits.
As the director of baseball operations, Pratte assisted in the development of all facility improvement projects, including a $5 million upgrade in 2011. He also organized fundraising opportunities such as alumni golf outings and alumni weekends.
While at Mizzou, Pratte was a part of 9 NCAA Regionals and a Super Regional as a coach.
