Maura Schimp came to the Billikens' field hockey program as an assistant coach in January 2019. The fall 2022 season was Schimp's fifth with the Billikens.
A December 2018 graduate from American University in Washington, D.C., Schimp was a standout student-athlete for the Eagles' field hockey team.
Schimp graduated as one of the top goalkeepers in American University and Patriot League history. She closed her career with 214 saves, a 1.63 goals against average and a .702 save percentage. Schimp was named the 2018 Patriot League Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Year and was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Week eight times. She helped the Eagles to the Patriot League championship in 2016 and a win in the NCAA Tournament that year.
Just as impressive as Schimp's accomplishments on the field are those that came off of it. She was a two-time Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar Athlete of the Year and three-time Patriot League All-Academic team selection. Schimp served as President of American University's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) from 2017-18.
A native of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Schimp earned a bachelor's in Public Relations and Strategic Communications from American University.
