Ashley Fleming is in her second season as assistant softball coach at Saint Louis University.
Fleming helped the 2014 Billikens enjoy one of the most successful seasons in team history. SLU tied the program record by capturing 30 wins, finished second in the Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season standings and the A-10 Championship, and set program records in five offensive categories. Compared to 2013, the Billikens raised their batting average by 28 points and their run production by .41 per game while striking out 72 fewer times.
Fleming served as assistant coach at Central Methodist University during the 2013 season. She was head coach of the Missouri Stealth 18U competitive team in 2012 and 2013 and has been an individual hitting and fielding instructor since 2010.
Fleming was a standout at the University of Missouri, where she helped lead the team to three consecutive Women’s College World Series appearances. She was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association second-team All-American in 2011 and 2012, a first-team All-Region choice in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and a three-time All-Big 12 selection (first team in 2010 and 2012, second team in 2011). Fleming twice was named USA Softball Player of the Week, and she was tabbed Missouri’s Most Valuable Player in 2012 and the Tigers’ Best Offensive Player in 2011 and 2012.
A 2012 Missouri graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Fleming also excelled in the classroom. She collected All-America Scholar-Athlete plaudits all four years, and she earned a place on the Capital One Academic All-District 7 and Academic All-Big 12 first teams in her final three seasons.
“Ashley is a tremendous asset to our coaching staff,” head coach Christy Connoyer said. “She has experience in all facets of the game as well as a true passion for softball. She competed at a very high level and excelled with her quality work ethic, energy and drive. I am excited that Ashley brings her championship experience and great knowledge of the sport of softball to our team.”
