He is one of the founders of SLU’s chapter of Camp Kesem, a nationwide, student-driven organization that supports children impacted by a parent’s cancer through and beyond the experience. The chapter, which Rettig and a small group of friends started in 2012, has expanded to more than 150 campers and 100 student volunteers.

Rettig and his wife, Melissa, were married in May 2019.
