Jimmy Stika joined the staff prior to the 2019 season as a volunteer assistant coach. Prior to jumping on board at Saint Louis University, Stika was an assistant coach for the men's volleyball team at Fontbonne University for three seasons. During his time at Fontbonne the team saw its win totals increase each year, culminating in a 26-3 season in 2019, which also included the first conference tournament championship and NCAA Tournament appearance in program history. He also contributed to the development of multiple All-Conference players, an MCVL Defensive Player of the Year, and an MCVL Tournament MVP.
2019 was a successful year for the Billikens, as Stika helped take SLU to a 17-12 (11-5) record, nine more wins that the previous season. The Billikens rattled off eight consecutive wins early in conference play, helping them earn the third seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. Senior Sien Gallop was named to the All-Conference first team, while juniors Kennedy Cordia and Maya Taylor earned second team nods. Cordia was also named to the conference's All-Academic team.
Stika played collegiately for Fontbonne from 2013-16, serving as the team's primary libero in all four seasons. He currently ranks third all-time in school history in digs, and was ranked in the top 25 nationally in digs/set in each of his four seasons. He was named to the 2014 All-Conference team, as well as multiple Academic All-Conference teams and Fontbonne Dean's Lists during his career.Â
Along with his duties with the Billikens, Stika is also an active club coach in the St. Louis area, having coached for High Performance STL the past three seasons. Stika graduated from Fontbonne with a bachelors in Psychology in 2016, as well as a masters in Supply Chain Management in 2019.
