ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University men's soccer overwhelmed the Vanderbilt Commodores 9-0 tonight at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. The Billikens (1-0-0) were on the board early when David Beck (Manchester, Mo./SLUH) took a pass from freshman Brad Davis (St. Louis, Mo./Chaminade), faked the keeper and sent it in from eight yards out in the seventh minute.

Nine different Billikens recorded points as Jack Jewsbury (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) tallied three goals and an assist on the night. Davis kicked in with a goal and three assists, while Jason Cole (Kansas City, Mo./Rockhurst) put two in the back of the net. Bobby O'Connell (St. Louis, Mo./DeSmet) and Loren Reinhardt(Prospect, Ky./Trinity) notched their first career points as each had an assist on the night.

Davis and Jewsbury stole the show as the duo combined on a pair of goals and connected on countless other passes in tight quarters. Nick Walls (Milwaukee, Wis./Wauwatosa East) showed the speed and agility he lacked last season due to injury. The sophomore scored just before the half unassisted from 12 yards out.

The Billikens are back in action next week when they host the Nike Classic. Saint Louis takes on Cal on Fri., Sept. 8, at 7 p.m. before facing Southern Methodist on Sun., Sept. 10, at 2:30 p.m.
