St. Louis - The Saint Louis Billikens rallied from a 10-point deficit in the second half and posted a tense 69-65 overtime victory over Fordham on Wednesday evening at Scottrade Center. The comeback was the biggest of the season for the Billikens, topping the nine-point comeback over Southern Illinois, and was SLU's first overtime win.

The Billikens started quickly as Luke Meyer scored in transition off a feed from III. Liddell then scored on a drive down the left side for a quick 4-0 SLU lead. After Fordham's third straight miss to begin the game, Liddell scored on an identical play to boost the Billikens to a 6-0 margin three minutes into the contest. However, the Rams scored the next five points to cut the margin to one. After a Paul Eckerle free throw, Barry Eberhardt threw down a thunderous dunk on the left side, and Liddell's baseline jumper pushed the Billikens to an 11-5 advantage eight minutes in.

The Billikens were up 13-11 as Bryant Dunston scored the first 11 points for Fordham, before a trey by Kevin Anderson gave the Rams their first lead of the evening 14-13. Two more charity tosses by Eckerle put the Billikens back on top 15-14. The teams traded the lead until Fordham scored five straight to take a 23-19 lead. After a free throw, Kevin Lisch's driving layup trimmed the deficit to just one at 23-22 with just under three minutes left in the first half. The Rams built a six-point advantage and hit a trey, the sixth of the half, just before the halftime buzzer to take a 33-24 lead at intermission.

After Fordham opened up a 10-point lead, a basket by Husak and two free throws by Meyer inched the Billikens closer at 36-30. The Rams hit one free throw, but the Billikens responded with seven consecutive points. A layup by Meyer began the run, and a trey by Lisch drew SLU to 37-35. Liddell scored on another drive down the left to tie the game 37-37 at the 14:17 mark. A Fordham 3-pointer finally ended the Billiken burst. Husak then scored on consecutive trips, including an easy layup after Danny Brown tipped a miss over to the senior center for a 41-40 SLU lead with 12 minutes left to play.

Fordham tied the game at 41-41, but two free throws by Liddell put the Billikens back up at 43-41. The game was tied at 44-44 with eight minutes left to go until Lisch curled around a screen and shook free for a trey to push the Bills out on top 47-44. After one Liddell free throw, Lisch found Meyer wide open for a layup and a 52-48 Billiken lead with five minutes left. Brown tacked on one free throw as the lead grew to five. The Billikens were still up 55-50 but the Rams made a charge down the stretch. Dunston made one free throw, and then hit a bucket to pull Fordham to within two. Lisch sank two free throws to put SLU ahead 57-53 with 32 seconds left, but Dunston finished a three-point play as the Rams cut the lead to one. Lisch answered with two charity tosses with 21 seconds remaining for a three-point margin. However, Marcus Stout sank a long trey from the left side with four seconds left to force overtime.

Fordham scored the first basket of overtime, but Lisch swished a 3-pointer to put the Billikens on top 62-61. Fordham scored on its next possession, but Eberhardt found the range from deep to hand SLU a 65-63 lead with 1:26 left to play. Two free throws by the Rams tied the game, but Liddell hit two free throws for a 67-65 Billiken margin. The Rams were looking for the tying basket but the Billiken defense forced a turnover. Lisch made one free throw with 21 seconds left to play for a three-point lead. The Rams misfired on a long triple, and Eberhardt grabbed the miss and hit one free throw to seal the victory.

Lisch led the Billikens with 22 points, while Liddell notched his first double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Meyer added 10 points. For Fordham, Dunston finished with 30 points and 13 rebounds. The Billikens held the Rams to 38.6 percent shooting and out-rebounded Fordham 38-27.

The Billikens up their mark to 15-11 and pull to .500 in the A-10 at 6-6. The Rams saw their two-game winning streak end and dip to 10-13 overall, 4-7 in the A-10.
