CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After losing the doubles point, Saint Louis bounced back to win four of six singles matches and posted a 4-3 win over Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Charlotte Wednesday afternoon at Phillips Tennis Complex.

The victory was the Billikens' second consecutive one-point triumph. Monday, SLU (7-4) edged Davidson 4-3.

In the Charlotte match, Ken Nordheim and James McArthur defeated Moritz Bernhoerster and Jeff Archer 8-6 at No. 1 doubles. But the 49ers (4-9) took a 1-0 lead in the match by winning at Nos. 2 and 3.

Three of the singles contests went three sets, and the Bills won them all. Nordheim captured a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 decision over Bernhoerster at No. 1, McArthur came from behind to top Michael Anders 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2, and Bryan Beasley was a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victor over Jesse Hutchinson at No. 6. Sean McManus breezed past Brad Clinard 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5.

The Billikens swept the doubles matches against Davidson (4-7). Nordheim and McArthur downed Walker Lyons and Eric Noble 8-5 at No. 1; McManus and Jake Hendrie beat Scott Myers and Calum Gee 8-4 at No. 2; and P.J. Hendrie nipped Dave Warren and J. Carter Braxton 8-7 at No. 3.

Saint Louis won three tight singles matches to earn the victory. Nordheim dropped the first set to Lyons before coming back for a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 triumph at No. 1. Beasley also won in three sets at No. 5, defeating Arie Hefter 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. At No. 6, Matt Gordon survived a first-set challenge to register a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Warren.

The Bills return to action Friday, March 20, when they travel to Southern Illinois for a 2 p.m. match against the Salukis.
